Winter beauty trends
With the Winter comes dry skin, chapped lips and a lack of sparkle in your skin…. Or so they say. But not on our watch; Winter is for being creative with colour, taking advantage of layers and showcasing the latest beauty trends to keep your mood well and truly warm and sparkly. We run through the top beauty trends this winter, so you can add some pizazz into the darker, colder days.
Sixties lashes
The days of Twiggy are far gone, but the lashes live to see another season. Extreme 60’s lashes have officially made a comeback this season. Lash maximalism took hold with many variations shining through, from clumpy mascara application to single lash extensions added onto the lower lash line for the quintessential Twiggy effect. Add your own twist to this trend by opting for a coloured mascara or exaggerated lashes like these.
Statement nails
Nails have always been a trend in the eyes of many women, since the inception of WAH nails in London, there has been a continual trend in incredible nail art across the country. From stiletto to almond, each has taken its reign as the must-have shape of the season. Now, statement nails are taking their crown back from the more subtle looks we’ve seen in recent years. Think crystal encrusted, checkerboard and floral. Statement, long, patterned nails are the antidote to the cold weather this season; wear them with pride! (If you’re looking for some inspiration this Christmas, why not get some gold foil on your nails to truly wow.)
Peachy Rose
The dark Winter days are a surefire way of draining the colour from our faces this season, with grey skies and early nights, it’s hard to keep your skin looking refreshed and vitalised. Thanks to a number of catwalks showcasing rose/peach accents, you can now showcase traditionally spring colours to bring colour to your cheeks, lips and eyes. Softly petal stained lips, shades of rose on your eyes and a brushing of tint on those cheekbones will make the world of difference and bring light to your winter mornings.
Coloured accents
We’ve seen coloured accents across the catwalks a lot for the last few seasons, from dramatic eyeliner to geometric highlighting in bold hues. Pat McGrath was the leader in this domineering trend, with her incredible take on a black smokey eye, adding flashes of blue; to the Vivienne Westwood looks of pop colour eyeliner drawn around the eye socket. Whilst we realise that most of you won’t want to go around day to day with huge statement eyes, it’s certainly a nice excuse to add a pop of colour to your look, from sweeps of coloured eyeshadow to bold blue mascara, this trend is certainly a great way to inject some much needed colour into your Winter look.
Sparkle
It’s the party season, meaning there is absolutely no reason why sparkles/glitter/metallics can’t be introduced on a daily basis throughout December/Early January, so take full advantage of this and get your glam on. From Barry M glitter, to a full on smokey metallic eyes, tis’ the season to be jolly!
