5 beauty products for your Christmas wish-list this year
The Christmas lights have been switched on in towns across the UK, TV channels are showing endless sentimental adverts about children and their fluffy (imaginary) pets and supermarkets have been trying to sell us mince pies since early September. It can only mean one thing: the festive season has well and truly landed. And while most of us look forward to the promise of presents, food and parties, the rest will be wondering how another Christmas has come around so quickly. But whether you love the holiday or dread it, it’s definitely a time to sit back and relax whilst enjoying a mulled wine or two with your nearest and dearest.
So, you’ve invited the family round, ordered the tree and assigned tasks for each of your family members to carry out on the big day (why should you make the Christmas lunch and keep everyone topped up with drinks?) You’ve taken the time to meticulously organise events down the last morsel of leftover turkey, but have you taken the time to write a wish-list and let your family know what you want in return for all the hard work you do throughout the year?
You encourage your children to write lists to Father Christmas, so why not do it yourself? Yours might not make it as far as the North Pole, but it will certainly give your husband a nudge in the right direction when he’s wandering aimlessly around the shopping centre wondering whether he can get away with just giving you gift vouchers again (nice idea but just so not the point!)
Had your eye on a beauty product for months but just couldn’t justify spending that amount of money? Perfect, pop any ideas on your wish list and leave it somewhere for your family members to find. They’ll probably be grateful for the ideas of what to give you as a gift, and you’ll be glad to find a little bit of luxury in your stocking on Christmas morning!
If you don’t have any particular products in mind, take a look at our list. We’ve found five of the best products around that will make you look and feel gorgeous this Christmas.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
It’s a beauty staple that’s been around for years. In fact, it was first created back in 1930 by Elizabeth Arden herself. Now something of a cult product, the Eight Hour formula comes in many forms and is used by industry professionals and beauty lovers alike. Its antioxidant Vitamin E and deep moisturising properties make it ideal for soothing dry skin, whilst exfoliating salicylic acid brings the complexion to life with a beautiful healthy glow.
We recommend the Eight Hour Cream Intensive Moisturising Hand Treatment, an intensely moisturising treatment to sooth rough skin and reverse the drying effects of the cold winter weather on your hands.
GLAMGLOW POWERMUD Dual Cleanse Treatment
The newest addition the GLAMGLOW family is this mud-to-oil cleanser that purifies and nurtures your skin. Ingredients like velvet leaf leave your face clean and silky-soft to the touch while prickly pear oil nourishes and soothes your complexion.
POWERMUD’s revolutionary dual cleanse technology means that you apply the product to your face as a creamy clay mask which removes day-to-day dirt and makeup congestion, then when you use water to remove the mask the clay changes into a nourishing oil, leaving your skin deeply cleansed and revitalised.
Suitable for men or women of all ages, this is a real luxury product that will give you the effects of a spa facial from the comfort of your own home.
Urban Decay Naked
The Holy Grail of makeup fans everywhere, Urban Decay’s Naked eye-shadow palette delivers the perfect balance of colour and texture- from everyday matte neutrals with serious staying power to shimmering blacks and metallic shades with a pop of glamour and festive sparkle.
Urban Decay’s eye shadows are deeply pigmented, meaning that the colour is beautifully deep on your lids and won’t fade or smudge as you wear it– so you’ll avoid the annoying under-eye smears you get from some makeup. Plus, the Naked palette’s soft, velvety texture makes it the perfect eye-shadow for blending and creating some really stunning looks.
There are a few variations of the Naked palette available, including the Basics versions without the glittery hues, but for newbies the original Naked palette will give you the most colour and texture variety and is a great introduction to the range.
Nails inc Winter Wonderland Collection
Sparkly nails are a great addition to any Christmas party outfit and this collection by Nails inc provides three full size bottles of their Special Effects polish to make your nails glitter and glow this party season.
The three shades included are Trafalgar Square, a sparkly ruby red polish, St George’s Square, a white glitter polish and finally Buckingham Square, a shimmering rose gold shade.
Nails inc polishes are known for their professional-looking lasting finish, so you can rest assured that your nails will look glossy and the colour will stay put for those all-important festive gatherings.
The Body Shop Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil
If you’re giving the fake tan a break over winter but still don’t want to bare your milk bottle-esque pins when you venture out to parties in your LBD, then this bronzing dry oil is the perfect solution.
The oil comes in two shades – Honey Kiss for darker skin and Golden Honey for fairer – and provides a subtle covering of bronze shimmer. Simply apply using circular motions to any exposed bits, enjoy your evening and wash it off later. The formula is light and doesn’t stick so you don’t need to worry about it staining your clothes, plus it smells lovely- much better than that distinctive fake tan smell!
