Valentine’s Day Makeup Looks
Is that love in the air or just a gorgeous new perfume? The day of love, lust and everything in between is fast approaching, meaning the ULTIMATE excuse to try out some new makeup looks – whether you’re spending it with your special someone or partying with your best pals. Here are a few of our favourite styles to try this 14th February…got any to add or a blog/vlog to share? Send them to us on Twitter or Facebook and we’ll post our faves across social media.
The Vamp
Our personal favourite – when else can you go all out glam and have a completely legitimate excuse?! Think full coverage foundation, contoured cheeks, smokey eyes, faux eyelashes and bold lip colours. This look works well with an understated LBD and a range of hairstyles – depending on your style. Our personal favourite barnet to match is TONS of volume and sleek curls, but it looks absolutely gorgeous with pixie cuts and even the shortest of hair. Here’s one tutorial we love…
The Hepburn
Who doesn’t love Audrey Hepburn and her sophisticated, classic styling? Think feminine lashes and red lips, groomed to perfection hair, cute dresses and pearls. It’s all about feeling as pretty and feminine as you can (not the best look for a date at a burger joint). We think Lisa Eldridge explains this one best…
The natural beauty
Nude lips, gentle shades on the eyes, and understated lips. The natural look is incredibly popular at the moment and looks gorgeous with your favourite heels, a slinky top and some killer heels. Ultimate ‘I woke up like this’ glamour to last all night – however you’re celebrating. Remember though – just because it LOOKS natural doesn’t mean it’s the easiest (the no makeup look is one of the hardest to master).
We adore this simple to follow, gorgeously fresh tutorial from Chloe Morello for inspiration:
The Caramel Delight
Brown eyeshadows and bronzed cheeks look fantastic on a wealth of different skin shades, especially if you’ve got warm undertones and light colour eyes. Combine smokey eyes and natural makeup for a fresh look that makes the most of your features. This tutorial from MrDanielMakeup shows off the results – think Eva Longoria in Desperate Housewives and you’re set for a simple but glam look.
The use what you have…
While we’re suckers for a premium product or two, you don’t need to splash out on new makeup. We love this tutorial from Charlotte Tilbury using only high street products. You’ve probably got far more makeup than you ever believed you had. Make the most of it and try something different – you’ll be amazed at what you create!
