Black Opal and Diamond X Hollywood collaborate on a dressing room for Love Island’s Megan Barton-Hansen.

Diamond X teamed up with Black Opal to incredible effect – Megan now has a dressing room fit for a queen.

The highest standards

Dean Smith from Black Opal Ltd led both the design and build phases, working closely with the team at Diamond X. He has been creating unique living spaces for over 14 years, and his passion and attention to detail show. He designed every part of the dressing room with perfection in mind, so it was vital to work with partners who could deliver products to the highest standards.


Super-fast delivery

Often Dean works to very tight timescales, and this is where the responsiveness of the Diamond X bespoke service pays off. With on-site design, manufacturing and account management, he delivered Megan's project in excellent time.

Quality features

Megan's dressing room prominently features a Hollywood style mirror designed especially for the space. It has all the same features as our standard models, such as dimmable high-quality LED lights and crystal-clear low iron mirror glass, but made to a size to fit the room perfectly. The generous mirror frontage gives the feel of a luxury salon complete with lighting professional makeup quality lighting.

Super-bright dimmable LEDs

We specially chose LED bulbs that radiate a cool, crystal-clear light that's perfect for doing makeup. They have a Colour Rendering Index (CRI) of over 90. In other words, these LEDs provide the ideal light for the human eye to judge colour.

A dimmer switch controls the brightness of the bulbs using a rotary adjustment system, and dimming all the way down will switch the lights off. A great little detail of the mechanism is that you feel a soft click at the end of the adjustment that confirms when the lights are off. The side-mounted switch is discreet yet accessible and eliminates the need to touch the mirror's front face leaving it fingerprint free.

The design team

Dean works closely with his customers to dream up just the right look. Megan was pretty sure what she wanted for her dressing room, but the expertise of Black Opal and Diamond X was crucial for working out the best way to deliver it. As with so many success stories, this superb result was only possible with everyone pulling together as a team, including the customer.

Manufacture and installation

We built Megan's mirror in our specialist manufacturing facility in Westbury, Wiltshire. Our state-of-the-art machinery creates incredibly precise pieces, so we were confident that everything would fit perfectly. We arranged delivery at just the right moment for Dean to install and complete the project with this beautiful centrepiece.
